Struggles continue in Vegas
Souza lost to Randa Markos via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
A former Invicta Strawweight Champion, big things were expected from Souza upon her arrival in the UFC in September of 2018. It simply hasn't worked out, and this was arguably her worst performance to date. Facing an opponent who began the evening with a 6-10-1 (1NC) with the company, The Brazilian somehow allowed Markos to more than triple her in the total strikes landed department (159 to 51). She also made countless positional mistakes, essentially giving herself no chance of winning a decision. It's difficult to envision a scenario in which Souza bounces back from this effort.

Withdraws with shin injury
Souza withdrew Thursday from her upcoming fight against Kanako Murata due to a shin injury, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA.nl reports.

Per Raphael Marinho of Combate.com, Souza suffered nothing worse than a bruise and is expected to be ready to fight again in January, but she won't be ready to take on Murata in mid-November. Randa Markos will take Souza's place against Murata.
