Retires following victory

Wood defeated Maryna Moroz via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 299 on Saturday in Miami.
ANALYSIS
Wood announced her retirement after the bout. Not only did she end her career with a victory, but Jojo also got revenge on Moroz after the latter won the first fight between the two via submission in just 90 seconds back in April 2015. Wood struggled with the grappling game of her opponent in Round 1, but remained upright the rest of the way, allowing her to land plenty of volume in the striking game, eventually overtaking the tiring Moroz. The 38-year-old Scot ends her UFC run with a 9-8 mark, including victories over the likes of Jessica Eye, Andrea Lee and Ariane Lipski.

Scheduled against Moroz
FlyweightUFC
January 24, 2024
Wood (undisclosed) is scheduled to compete against Maryna Moroz in a flyweight fight in Miami at UFC 299 on March 9, according to the UFC's announcement Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Wood will look to have fought within a year since her previous fight. She snapped a three-fight losing streak to Luana Carolina at UFC 286. Ideally for Wood, she will not be the one to end Moroz's own losing streak. Such is certainly possible, considering their first encounter ended with Wood tapping to Moroz via armbar in a 2015 fight at UFC Fight Night 64.

Wood will no longer fight Priscila Cachoeira at UFC 291, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports Thursday.
ANALYSIS
It's currently unclear exactly why Wood will be unable to fight on July 29. Regardless, the UFC quickly found a replacement, as Miranda Maverick is now slated to take on Cachoeira in her stead.

Wood is set to face off against Priscila Cachoeira at UFC 291 on July 29, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Wood, who most recently defeated Luana Carolina in March, will face off against Priscila Cachoeira next. The 37-year-old fighter boasts a record of 8-8 in the UFC, and she will look to continue building what has been a storied career against Cachoeira in July.
Snaps three-fight losing streak
FlyweightUFC
March 18, 2023
Wood defeated Luana Carolina via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28) at UFC 286 on Saturday in London.
ANALYSIS
Now 37 years of age, the UFC granted Wood another opportunity despite the fact she entered having lost three in a row and four of her last five. She responded with a strong effort, albeit against an ideal opponent from a technical standpoint. Wood is extremely reliant on her stand-up skills. She lacks finishing power and struggles to generate secondary offense, making it imperative she lands a ton of volume. That was the case in this one, as she was credited with 177 total strikes, including 131 of the "significant" variety. A prolonged winning streak seems unlikely, but this victory should ensure we see Wood again inside the Octagon.
Returning in March

Wood will face Luana Carolina in London on March 18, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
The 36-year-old is riding a three-fight losing streak and elected to take most of 2022 off. Her last two matches saw her get submitted in the first round, dropping her UFC record to 7-8. Her opponent, Carolina, has far less UFC experience, going 3-2 with the promotion.
