Takes decision at UFC 305
HeavyweightUFC
August 17, 2024
Rozenstruik defeat Tai Tuivasa via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 30-27) at UFC 305 on Saturday in Perth, Australia.
ANALYSIS
Toss aside the ridiculous "split decision" portion of the story. Rozenstruik won this fight going away. It was a slow, prodding striking battle, which is where Jair thrives. He predictably ate a few big blows from Tuivasa, but he held his ground and closed with a massive 91-37 edge in significant strikes landed. Now 36 years of age, Rozenstruik is 3-3 in his past six bouts dating back to September 2021. It should be noted that the defeats have come against Jailton Almeida, Alexander Volkov and Curtis Blaydes, so Jair's struggles with the best the heavyweight division has to offer doesn't bode well for his future, particularly when you take his advanced age into account.

Scheduled against Tuivasa
HeavyweightUFC
June 22, 2024
Rozenstruik is scheduled to compete against heavyweight Tai Tuivasa at UFC 305 in Perth on Aug. 18, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
ANALYSIS
Rozenstruik will be one of multiple fighters competing a native Australian at Perth. While his inconsistent results and fight profile will be put to the test, he is not struggling like Tuivasa has, with the Australian going 0-4 with four consecutive finishes since early-2022.
Earns main event victory
HeavyweightUFC
March 2, 2024
Rozenstruik defeated Shamil Gaziev via TKO (retirement) at 5:00 of Round 4 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Jair's cardio is not an asset and never will be, but he's far better in that area than Gaziev, as we found out here. Rozenstruik stood around for five minutes or so, neither winning nor losing the early striking exchanges between the two. He picked his spots and conserved his energy. That was all it took to win this fight, because Gaziev had nothing the rest of the way. The total strikes over the course of the final three rounds were 125-15 in favor of Jair, including a 96-7 edge in Rounds 3 and 4. Rozenstruik would have earned either a decision or stoppage win had the fight continued because Gaziev had nothing left, but the latter told his corner in between rounds he could no longer see, and referee Marc Goddard wisely decided to pull the plug. Jair has no chance against the top guys in the heavyweight division because he has zero means of generating any offensive outside of power shots, but he's far better than many of the lower-end guys on the roster such as Gaziev.
No-shows Charlotte main event
HeavyweightUFC
May 13, 2023
Rozenstruik lost to Jailton Almeida via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:43 of Round 1 at UFC on ABC 4 on Saturday in Charlotte.
ANALYSIS
This appeared to be an impossible spot for Rozenstruik on paper, and it played out exactly that way once the bell rang. Entering as a +360 underdog, largest on the entire card, Jair was non-competitive in defending an early takedown attempt, with the fight essentially being over the second he hit the mat. Rozenstruik's power is legitimate, but he has zero means of generating any secondary offense, and he's a below-average athlete for the heavyweight division. It's not a great combination. A loser of four of his last six dating back to February 2021, there's an overwhelming likelihood we have already seen the best Jair has to offer inside the Octagon.
Taking on Almeida May 13
HeavyweightUFC
February 20, 2023
Rozenstruik will take on Jailton Almeida at the UFC event on May 13, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Rozenstruik is coming off one of his strongest showings of his career last December against Chris Daukaus. He will look to get back to .500 over the course of his last eight bouts with a win against Almeida.
Destroys Chris Daukaus
HeavyweightUFC
December 10, 2022
Rozenstruik defeated Chris Daukaus via KO (punch) at 0:23 of Round 1 at UFC 282 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Easy work. Rozenstruik lacks traditional athleticism and isn't going to win many (or any) fights if his power strikes aren't landing, but this performance is a perfect example of what can happen when they do connect. Jair blasted Daukaus with a couple big shots moments after the opening bell rang, and that was essentially all she wrote. Rozenstruik has no history of hanging with better competition and that almost certainly will not change considering he will be turning 35 years of age next March, but there's more than enough here for Jair to continue to blast fringe-roster fighters such as Daukaus. The effort would also go on to earn him a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus.
