Taps to Simon on Fight Island
Pirrello lost to Ricky Simon via submission (arm-triangle choke) at 4:00 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Island 8 on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Pirrello did get much offense off in the first, as he was constantly defending the takedowns of Simon and was ultimately taken down on multiple occasions. He managed to land a big knee in the first minute of Round 2, but Simon went right back to the takedown and earned it with ease. It became harder and harder for Pirrello to get back to his feet after repeated takedown efforts, and Simon was ultimately able to get the mount. Simon sunk in the arm-triangle choke shortly thereafter and it was all over. It wasn't an ideal debut, but Pirrello will presumably get another shot against a more manageable opponent after accepting this bout on short notice.
