Filling in as replacement
Garcia will step in against Hyder Amil at UFC Vegas 86 on Feb. 10, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Garcia will fill in against Hyder Amil, taking the fight with just eight days' notice. The 31-year-old American will look to pick up his first UFC win against Amil after opening his stint with the fighting company 0-3.

Not competitive in Singapore loss
Garcia lost to Rinya Nakamura via unanimous decision (26-30, 27-30, 27-30) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Singapore.
ANALYSIS
This was a clear no-win situation for Garcia from the very start. The 31-year-old Texan had to fly halfway around the world to find himself as a +650 underdog against a top prospect. Predictably, Garcia was dominated from bell-to-bell, giving up at least one takedown and at least 2:30 worth of control time in all three frames. Fernie earned his UFC opportunity with a first-round knockout win on Dana White's Contender Series in October 2021, but it's been all downhill since, with Garcia losing each of his first three official fights with the company, all via unanimous decision. It's highly unlikely he is granted a fourth chance.

Can't keep up on the ground
Garcia lost to Brady Hiestand via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Vegas 65 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
It looked as though Garcia was going to secure a quick victory after dropping Hiestand with a big right hand early, but the opponent took the shot and was able to out-grapple Fernie for the better part of 15 minutes. Garcia may have had the advantage if he could have stayed at range, but couldn't resist trying to scramble with his opponent on the ground, which ultimately led to positional control from the superior wrestler in Hiestand. Garcia is a talented boxer with power in his hands but has been handled on the ground in each of his last two fights, which has neutralized his greatest strengths. He falls to 10-3-0 in professional MMA as a result of the loss.

Booked for November fight
Garcia will take on Brady Hiestand (knee) at a UFC event scheduled for Nov. 19, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Garcia made his UFC debut in early May and lost to Journey Newson via unanimous decision. He'll get a chance to bounce back against Hiestand, who lost The Ultimate Fighter 29 Bantamweight Final to Ricky Turcios via split decision in August of 2021. Hiestand has been sidelined with a knee injury since then but should be ready to return by November. Hiestand has advantages in both height and reach.

Drops decision in UFC debut
Garcia lost to Journey Newson via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC 274 on Saturday in Phoenix.
ANALYSIS
Garcia earned his UFC opportunity with a first-round knockout victory on Dana White's Contender Series this past October, but was unable to get anything going in his official company debut. Garcia relies on his boxing to be successful, but he rarely throws any kicks and has just one knockout victory in his professional career. It's a bad combination, and one that leaves Garcia with virtually no room for error each time he steps into the Octagon. The 30-year-old Texan should get another opportunity with the company, but little should be expected.
