Obliterated by Jailton Almeida
Marques lost to Jailton Almeida via TKO (punches) at 2:57 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Marques never had a shot in what was one of the most lopsided three-minute fights you will ever see. He found himself on his back just moments after the opening bell rang and it only got worse from there. Marques was credited with just two total strikes landed compared to 37 from his opponent. Almeida is a real problem and is going to give a bunch of guys issues over the course of his UFC run, but this setback puts Marques in must-win territory his next time out. He has now suffered back-to-back knockout losses on the heels of a pair of victories to begin his UFC run. The 36-year-old Brazilian is out of runway.

Fight rescheduled
Marques has suffered an undisclosed injury and so his fight against Jailton Almeida has been rescheduled for Feb. 5, Marcel Dorff of MMADNA reports.
ANALYSIS
It's unclear what kind of injury Marques sustained but it will force the UFC to push his scheduled bout against Almeida nearly three months back. The 35-year-old will be looking to avenge a knockout loss when he takes the Octagon in February.

ANALYSIS
Marques started off with an impressive first round against his late-notice replacement opponent, racking up 4:55 worth of control time and 22 total strikes to likely take a 10-8 frame. The second round was much closer, with Marques earning another takedown and 2:47 of control time, but also losing the battle of significant strikes 16 to 9. Things fell apart in the final frame, as an aggressive Nzechukwu came out firing. He unloaded with combinations that sent Marques crashing against the fence while absorbing a barrage of unanswered shots. Referee Jason Herzog had finally seen enough and called off the proceedings. Marques falls to 2-1 in the UFC with the loss.
