Chris is known as a volume puncher with good footwork, but Song entered with a significant power edge, making it difficult for Gutierrez to make any headway on the feet. Chris appeared openly frustrated at times between rounds, particularly late. He remained upright throughout Round 1, but found himself planted on his back each of the next four frames. He defended fine on the mat, and Song didn't exactly dominate from top position, but it helped drain the clock. Simply put, there wasn't enough urgency from Chris in a fight he was clearly losing on the scorecards.
