Dealt two-year suspension
FlyweightUFC
February 15, 2023
Mota has been suspended two years by the Nevada State Athletic Commission following a positive test for Meldonium, Nolan King of USA Today reports.
ANALYSIS
Mota will also be fined for the positive test, in addition to being sidelined until October 29 of 2024. This all stems from his short-notice UFC debut in which he lost to Cody Durden via unanimous decision. The promotion often cuts ties with a fighter for this type of thing, but no official announcement has been handed down just yet.

Drops late-notice debut
FlyweightUFC
October 30, 2022
Mota lost to Cody Durden via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The reigning Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) flyweight champion, Mota stepped in here for Keydson Rodrigues (undisclosed) on short notice, and it didn't go well. Mota allowed Durden to land 4-of-8 takedowns, and as a result, gave up 12:23 worth of control time, eliminating any chance he had of potentially winning a decision. Mota will certainly receive another shot with the company due to his willingness to "save" this fight, but little should be expected considering what we saw from Mota in this one.
Stepping in to face Durden
FlyweightUFC
October 24, 2022
Mota will step in to fight Cody Durden at UFC Fight Night on Saturday after Kleydson Rodrigues (undisclosed) withdrew from the bout Monday, Guilherme Cruz of MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Mota -- the current flyweight champion of the Legacy Fighting Alliance -- will make his UFC debut Saturday as he replaces Rodrigues on the UFC Vegas 63 card. The 27-year-old Brazilian is coming off back-to-back victories in the LFA and will look to improve his pro record to 9-1 when he faces off with Durden in the Octagon on Saturday.
