Set to fight rookie
Hernandez versus Nyamjargal Tumendemberel has been added to the Nov 23. UFC card, Carlos Contreras Legaspi of ESPN Deportes reports.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez will look to break even after starting his UFC career with a record of 2-3. The American flyweight will have the chance to break his two-match losing streak against Tumendemberel, who will make his UFC debut though he has an 8-0 professional fighting record.

Suffers second straight loss
Hernandez lost to Rei Tsuruya via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 303 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez may have very well been walking out with a victory if this fight was scheduled for five rounds. He was the much more effective fighter in the final frame after being controlled on the mat for a good portion of the opening ten minutes. Neither man accomplished anything on the feet, highlighted by the fact Hernandez landed just 16 significant strikes over the course of 15 minutes. The 30-year-old Chicago native has now lost two straight and drops to 2-3 in his first five UFC bouts. Hernandez will likely need a victory his next time out to ensure his roster spot is safe.

Now facing debuting fighter
Hernandez will now take on Rei Tsuruya in a flyweight matchup at UFC 303 on June 29, according to the official UFC site.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez was initially supposed to take on Cody Durden, but Durden ended up getting rescheduled for a separate bout at a later date. Instead, he'll take on an undefeated newcomer in 22-year-old Japanese prospect Tsuruya. It's a tall task for Hernandez, who will enter as the betting underdog in his bid to snap a two-fight losing streak after falling to Tatsuro Taira last December.

Will face Cody Durden
Hernandez will face Cody Durden in a flyweight bout at UFC 303 on June 29, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez has gone 2-2 at the UFC level after his previous stint in Dana White's Contender Series, and he'll look to bounce back after being overmatched in his last fight. His most recent experience in the octagon resulted in a TKO loss to Tatsuro Taira on Dec. 9, 2023.

No-shows Vegas loss
Hernandez lost to Tatsuro Taira via TKO (punches) at 0:55 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Hernandez was dominated from bell-to-bell, which is often the result when you enter as a +400 underdog, second-largest on the entire card. He didn't land a single strike in Round 1 while spending virtually the entire frame on his back. It only got worse for Hernandez in Round 2, at which point Taira unloaded with a combination that crumbled him and forced referee Mark Smith to step in. A product of Dana White's Contender Series, Hernandez has alternated losses and wins in his first four UFC bouts.
