Suspended for 14 months
Evans-Smith was suspended for 14 months Monday after testing positive for the presence of an anabolic androgenic steroid, Mark Raimondi of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The failed test took place back on Jan. 3, collected out-of-competition. Evans-Smith received a shortened sentence because the banned substance was incorrectly prescribed to her to deal with a medical condition. She will be ineligible to compete until March of 2023.

Must get hand cleared
Evans-Smith must have her left hand X-rayed and cleared by a doctor or she will have to face a six-month suspension, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Evans-Smith was not 100 percent and fell to Norma Dumont last weekend via unanimous decision. She will now need doctor clearance on her hand or be unable to fight again until after May 28, 2021.

Not 100 percent in Vegas
Evans-Smith lost to Norma Dumont via unanimous decision (26-30, 26-30, 26-30) at UFC on ESPN 18 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Evans-Smith came out looking for big kicks early, but seemed to concede a significant speed advantage to her opponent, which was evident in the overall striking game. Normally Evans-Smith would go to her wrestling when things aren't working on the feet, but she was hesitant in this regard, and she appeared labored when the two were in the clinch and an opportunity was there. She did manage a takedown early in Round 2, but didn't maintain control for long and was soon on her back herself. She made it back to her feet but had to eat a few big shots to get there. Entering Round 3 and needing to go for broke, Evans-Smith continued walking into power shots. While she didn't get the finish she needed, at least she gets to fall back on the fact she was facing a heavy opponent. Plus, she (heroically) made it the full 15 minutes despite the telecast alluding to a possible injury.

To face heavy opponent
Evans-Smith will proceed with her scheduled matchup against Norma Dumont on Saturday despite Dumont weighing in 3.5 pounds over the bantamweight limit.
ANALYSIS
It's not all bad, as Evans-Smith will receive 30 percent of Dumont's fight purse, and the matchup will proceed as scheduled. Evans-Smith enters this matchup as approximately a (-140) betting favorite as of fight day.
