Vegas 98 fight canceled
Alhassan will not fight Josh Fremd at UFC Vegas 98 on Oct. 12, Aaron Bronsteter of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
This is not a problem on Alhassan's part. Fremd weighed in at 189 pounds, and the UFC opted to scrap his fight with Alhassan entirely. This has been a rough 2024 for him, as he may finish this year without a clear result.

Set for October
Alhassan will fight Josh Fremd at a UFC event on Oct. 12, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
The Ghanan middleweight will get the chance for his first win of the year after fighting to a no contest against Cody Brundage earlier in July. Alhassan will take on Fremd who is on a two-match losing streak, but both fighters have shown inconsistent play in the octagon in their recent fights.

Fights to no contest in Denver
Alhassan and Cody Brundage fought to a no contest (illegal elbows) at 0:37 of Round 1 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Denver.
ANALYSIS
This one could have gone either way for Alhassan. On one hand, he dominated Brundage the entire bout, and referee Dan Miragliotta certainly could have stopped the fight. On the other, given the fact the blows were deemed illegal, he could have been disqualified. It's certainly disappointing that Brundage couldn't or wouldn't continue given how much momentum Alhassan had built up. Perhaps the company will set these two up for another date down the round.

Will fight Cody Brundage

Inconsistent ways continue
Alhassan lost to Joe Pyfer via technical submission (arm-triangle choke) at 2:05 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Alhassan lasted more than seven minutes, which may not seem that great on the surface, but actually isn't all that bad considering he spent the entirety of this fight on the defensive. Alhassan's lone highlight from an offensive perspective were some quality leg kicks which left Pyfer hobbled. Unfortunately for Abdul, he was unable to defend the takedown and eventually went to sleep in the early portion of Round 2. The very definition of roster depth, the 38-year-old Alhassan lost three straight from July 2020 to April 2021. The UFC stuck with him and he has alternated wins and losses in four fights since. They'll probably run him back out there once again, but it's far from a guarantee.
