This past July, Stortini was signed by the Predators to a one-year, two-way deal. Formerly with Edmonton, the winger had split time between the Oilers and the AHL's Oklahoma City Barons, in 2010-11. Stortini had four assists and didn't score last season while amassing 76 penalty minutes in 32 games. He should challenge for the third or fourth line and see extended playing time this preseason.
Stortini is the type of player that every team would love to have. A player who is good with his fists, but can also put the puck in the net, so he is not a liability on the ice. Stortini is likely to play the same role he always has for the Oilers, fourth liner that will look to add a spark to the team when needed.
Stortini will never be an offensive dynamo, and his fantasy value is in his fists. Stortini had 181 penalty minutes in only 52 games last season, so that is why you draft him.
Stortini had a whopping 201 PIMs in 66 games for the Oilers, guess where his value lies? Stortini will once again be the Oilers number one enforcer and should be treated as such in fantasy leagues.
Stortini was given a strong look at by Edmonton when they felt teams were taking liberties with some of their skilled forwards. He appeared in 29 games with the Oilers and racked up 105 pims. His value is limited to his fists, so expect him to spend most of the year in the AHL.
Stortini will reside primarily in the AHL in 2006-07.
