Getting his first taste of NHL action in 2023-24, Bolduc made a decent impression with nine points and 38 shots on goal over 25 games. While that amount of action will deny him eligibility for the Calder Trophy, Bolduc has an excellent chance to stick on a Blues roster that is lacking in proven depth. That said, it's not a given he'll play, as he's not a particularly aggressive forward, so a bottom-six role wouldn't suit him. Bolduc may need some more time with AHL Springfield, but he should be near the top of the list for injury replacements. It's possible he could chip in 20-25 points if he gets enough games to get comfortable at the NHL level. Read Past Outlooks

Bolduc was recalled from AHL Springfield on Tuesday.

ANALYSIS
Bolduc was assigned to Springfield on Monday, but the move now appears to have been procedural. The 21-year-old is eligible to play in Tuesday's contest against Seattle, but it remains to be seen if he will draw into the lineup. Bolduc is more likely to begin the season as St. Louis' 13th forward. The left-shot center garnered nine points (five goals) in 25 regular-season games with the Blues in 2023-24.

Bolduc skated on the second line alongside Jake Neighbours and Brayden Schenn during Wednesday's practice, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic reports. If that ends up being the rookie's assignment versus the Isles, he'll be put in a great position right out of the gate. Bolduc has eight goals and 23 points in 48 contests with AHL Springfield in 2023-24. The 20-year-old was selected with the No. 17 pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
