Peters played his first AHL game for Portland in 2002-03 and 11 years later has totaled 96 NHL games. The center suited up for the Baby Penguins last season, scoring 19 points (11G, 8A) in 73 contests. Peter's provides organizational depth for Pittsburgh, but odds are that he never skates on Consol Energy Center ice. He's seen limited time with Calgary, Dallas and most recently, Minnesota.
Peters was signed in the offseason to provide organizational depth in the minors. The center has toiled nine seasons in the AHL. He's played in 96 NHL contests, where he's scored four goals and assisted on four others. Give credit to the 30-year old as a hockey lifer, but make sure he's likely to not be near your fantasy squad this season.
Peters is a part-time NHLer who typically gets the call when injuries strike Minnesota's more established forwards. He has just three points – all goals – in 38 games between the Flames, Stars and Wild.
The Wild are Peters' third NHL team in the last three years, having previously played for Calgary and Dallas. However, he's only played in 27 career games in those three seasons. The center has two career goals for two career points. He's 28-years-old, so the window for him to play regularly in the NHL is almost shut. He'll start this season in the minors and will probably stay there.
Peters was signed by Dallas in July to give organizational depth down the middle of ice. If he sees time with the Stars, it will be in a checking role on the fourth line.
Peters garnered 24 points in 75 games with AHL Quad City last season. With the Flames' depth at center, it's highly unlikely Peters will see the NHL this season.
