Whitfield is always a candidate to be called up when injuries hit and the B's need some fourth-line help, but that's his upside.
Whitfield is a veteran who spent last year shuffling between the AHL and NHL. More of the same could be on tap with him now that he is back with the Bruins' organization.
Despite two goals in two scrimmages early in training camp, Whitfield will probably return to AHL Peoria to open the season. Unless he gets recalled as an injury fill-in after the season starts, there's not much chance of seeing
Whitfield in a Blues' uniform this year. He has minimal fantasy value at this point.
Whitfield played 30 games for the Blues last season, the majority of those coming after the All-Star break in March and April. Offensively, he didn't do much, posting just two goals and five assists. He has a good shot at making the team on a full-time basis this season, but if he does, he will likely resume his role on one of the Blues' checking lines. As such, he should not be one of your fantasy considerations this season.
