Sestito appeared in an impressive, career-high 77 games for the Canucks last season, recording five goals and nine points. But if you have the fourth-liner like Sestito on your fantasy squad, you know it isn’t for the points. He led the league last season with a whopping 213 PIM and also dished out 121 hits. Aside from PIM, Sestito really doesn’t bring much to the table in terms of fantasy value. Watch him in camp -- he may be challenged for ice time this season with the addition of fellow tough guy Derek Dorsett.
Sestito joined Vancouver in midseason last year after being claimed off waivers by the Canucks. He managed just one point in 23 points with his new team, but Sestito lived up to his reputation as an enforcer with 53 minutes in the sin bin. Vancouver was happy enough with Sestito’s fight card to bring him back on a two-year deal. He’ll once again provide the Canucks depth up front while being the most likely player on the squad to drop the gloves when necessary.
Sestito played 14 games with the Flyers last season managing 83 PIMs and a minus-3. The 6-foot-5 enforcer may have a difficult time cracking the lineup regularly with teammate Zac Rinaldo racking up 232 PIMs and nine points last season. If Sestito does see any sustained time, he won’t be much value to owners looking for anything more than penalty minutes.
Depth enforcer scored 10-7-17 with 138 PIMs in just 36 AHL games last season.
Depth enforcer racked up 227 PIMs, with a surprising seven goals and 15 points, in just 31 games with AHL Syracuse last season.
Sestito racked up 23 points and 202 penalty minutes in 66 games last season, but would need something to happen to Jared Boll to get a chance to bring his muscle up to Columbus.
Where did that come from? OHL goon Sestito erupted for 42 goals in '06-'07 after scoring just 10 the season before, giving hope that he might be more than just a giant body on skates. His size (and willingness to use it) and skating mark him as a future NHL fourth liner, but if he continues to develop offensively he could be quite a bit more.
