Chaput spent his first season in the Montreal organization, putting up 26 points in 63 games for Hamilton of the AHL and Wheeling of the ECHL. He's a hard worker who needs to play that way. His upside is that of a defensive forward, though at 25 and with no NHL experience to date, Chaput is unlikely to make any sort of impact at the major league level.
The 24 year-old center is an organizational depth guy, who suited up for just 11 games for AHL Providence last season, notching five points.
The Bruins re-signed Chaput, who finished last season in AHL Providence after being acquired from Anaheim. Chaput, who had 3-4-7 totals in 15 games with Providence, gives the B's organization some forward depth, but he's not a high-profile prospect at this point.
Chaput potted 10 goals and assisted on 28 last season as a member of the AHL's Albany River Rats. He's a steady producer who plays with plenty of aggression, but the Hurricanes could first turn to more highly touted center prospects like Zac Dalpe, Zach Boychuk and Jeff Skinner, just to name a few, before Chaput's name is called for a role in the NHL.
