A 19-year-old rookie, Korchinski played a massive role for the rebuilding Blackhawks in his first NHL campaign. He averaged 19:37 of ice time per game and finished with five goals and 15 points, including seven with the man advantage, in 76 games. The lone blemish on Korchinski's ledger was his woeful minus-39 rating, which wasn't unexpected given his youth and all the ice time he received on one of the NHL's worst teams. Chicago doesn't project to be much better this time around, but Korchinski is one of their most important long-term pieces, meaning he should once again be given every chance to succeed. ANALYSIS
Korchinski set up a Tyler Johnson tally in the third period. The 19-year-old Korchinski faced an uphill battle to make an impact this season, but he was able to stick in the NHL all year. He posted 15 points, 93 shots on net, 82 blocked shots and a minus-39 rating over 76 appearances -- while not great numbers, they make sense in the context of playing for one of the worst teams in the league. Korchinski's got a bright future ahead as a two-way defenseman who could be a staple of the Blackhawks' top four for years to come.

Korchinski has seens his ups and downs this campaign, but he's usually been one of Chicago's better defenders, and the team clearly believes his development will best be served by a full NHL season rather than a return to the WHL. The 2022 first-round pick has collected two goals and six points while averaging 19:32 of ice time through 19 contests this year.
