L'Esperance only appeared in three NHL games in 2019-20, scoring one goal over that span. He was, however, a solid contributor with AHL Texas, notching 25 goals and 40 points in 58 contests with the farm team. L'Esperance will get a chance to compete with Nick Caamano and Ty Dellandrea for an NHL job in training camp, but there's likely only room for one or two of those skaters on the Opening Night roster. The 25-year-old L'Esperance is the oldest of the three, which means he's running out of time to establish himself with the parent club. If he does go to the minors, he'll be near the top of the list for potential call-ups should injuries arise.
