McLaren signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Sharks on Monday, Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area reports.
ANALYSIS
McLaren is a big-bodied forward that can provide the Sharks with a spark in physicality when called upon. He will likely spend most of the 2015-16 season in the AHL, but may get occasional opportunities with the big club in matchups where his bruiser mentality can be of use.

Do the Leafs have room for two heavy-fisted power wingers? Maybe, maybe not. McLaren will see limited action as the Leafs' 13th man (at best), so his fantasy value will be restricted to formats that value part-time bruisers.
McLaren is a can’t-miss prospect for the Sharks, and that is meant to be taken literally; the forward is listed at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds, and appears even larger on skates. He is not a scoring type by any stretch of the imagination, but McLaren projects to be a solid source of penalty minutes in the near future.
McLaren loves dropping the gloves, so chances are you'll love him in leagues that reward heavily for penalty minutes. Of course, there is always the chance that he could start the upcoming season in the AHL. At any rate, the Sharks need a physical presence in their lineup and McLaren seems to be an ideal fit.
