The veteran Moreau decided to hang up the skates after a disappointing start to the season for the Kings and is now a scout for the Canadiens.
Nabbed from the waiver wire this past offseason, Moreau comes to a Columbus team that sorely needs an established veteran to mentor some of the team's young guns. We think Moreau is the right man for the role since he has good hockey smarts, but it will be tough for him to lead by example since he's never posted more than 32 points in any given season.
Moreau had 14 goals and 26 points in 77 games for the Oilers last season. While those numbers may not look all that impressive, they are pretty much in line with his career norm. His value in fantasy leagues are the 100+ penalty minutes he will accumulate. Those PIMs plus a little bit of goal scoring ability make him useful in deeper leagues.
Moreau is finally healthy and ready for the season to start. He has missed 129 of 164 games the last two seasons with ankle and shoulder injuries. Has only scored 17 goals in his NHL career, and with his injury history is a player to avoid in your draft.
Moreau missed most of last season due to a shoulder injury. He should be healthy heading into 2007-08, but his fantasy value will remain minimal. His high end is probably around 30 points.
Moreau is a key contributor on the ice in almost every facet. However, he’s not one to keep in mind on draft day. He has scored 20 goals just once in his career, and it seems his high-end for points is around 30.
Moreau is a seemingly tireless skater and solid checking forward. He lit the lamp 20 times for the first time in his career in the 2003-04 season, but that seems to be his ceiling.
