This player will have no fantasy value in 2013-14 and can be ignored in all formats.
Stuart had a very productive year in Portland last season, notching 44 points (16 G, 28 A) in 72 games and earning a brief call-up by the Sabres, where he appeared in three games. He re-upped with the club over the summer and absolutely has a shot to win a job as a fourth-line winger with Buffalo out of training camp.
Stuart likely won't break camp with the Sabres, who have a lot of stock put into Nathan Gerbe, Cody McCormick and Tyler Ennis. The veteran winger figures to spend the season in Portland, unless he latches on with another NHL club.
Stuart managed only eight points (5 G, 3 A) while playing 33 games for the Atlanta Thrashers in 2008-09. He comes over to the Calgary Flames and will probably wind up as organizational depth in Abbotsford (AHL). If he does manage to stick around at the NHL level he will not provide statistics worthy of fantasy ownership.
Stuart is a good skater who had 13 goals and 14 assist with the AHL's Chicago Wolves. He has never been much of a goal-scorer, so it would be a surprise if he develops into anything other than a checking winger in the NHL.
Stuart is a depth player for the Thrashers. He’s the prototypical grinding winger but he lacks scoring ability – he’s never scored more than 15 goals in any level of pro hockey. Even if your in an AHL pool, Stuart doesn’t make the cut.
