Borgman is three years removed from his last NHL action, when he had 11 points in 48 games with the Maple Leafs in 2017-18. Since then, he's racked up 33 points in 98 games in the AHL between the Toronto Marlies and San Antonio Rampage. Offensively, the 25-year-old Swede is unlikely to ever contribute much more than 10 to 15 points per year. With the Lightning in 2020-21, he's on a two-way contract, which makes him a prime candidate for the minors or the taxi squad. Borgman isn't exactly Norris-caliber defensively, so his challenge for a third-pairing role alongside Erik Cernak is a long shot with Jan Rutta more likely to fill that role.
