2019 Fantasy Outlook
After a productive junior career that saw him pass on signing with the Panthers after being a second-round pick in 2016, Mascherin made his pro debut last year and scored 18 goals and 44 points in 75 games for AHL Texas. The 21-year-old's best asset is an absolute cannon for a shot, as he combines a quick and deceptive release with accuracy and power, but he also has solid playmaking skills as well. As yet, the rest of his game doesn't measure up -- he has work to do in his own end, and his skating, while improved, is still a step slow. Mascherin could emerge as a solid middle-six contributor and power-play weapon down the road, but he'll need more development time in the AHL before that happens.
