Curtis McKenzie

Despite 57 goals and 142 points in 172 career AHL games, McKenzie has yet to prove he can handle a regular role in the NHL, scoring only six goals and 16 points in 53 games for Dallas last year — predominantly in a checking role. His willingness to get physical in the corners and in front of the net has served him well in the minors and should eventually translate to the big club even if his scoring prowess doesn't. Set for a bottom-six role once again, the 26-year-old’s offensive prospects may be a little rosier in 2017-18 if he gets a chance to skate with talented youngsters like Radek Faksa.

The 23-year-old forward had a blockbuster year in the AHL in 2014-14, scoring 27 goals and 38 assists through 75 games and adding another three goals and 11 assists through 21 playoff games. It was his first full pro season and he took the Texan bull by the horns. McKenzie very well could make his NHL debut this season, but the Stars are loaded up front and it's hard to imagine him cracking the lineup on a permanent basis and becoming fantasy relevant. But if he does, McKenzie has a real nose for the net and is worth watching.
