The former Blue Jackets prospect was picked up at the trade deadline in 2017 and made his NHL debut last year, seeing action in six games while Marc Methot was on the shelf. Heatherington is in many ways a Methot starter kit, as he combines a 6-foot-4 frame with a little bit of a mean streak without showing much in the way of offensive upside. Still on a two-way contract, the 23-year-old could end up bouncing between the big club and AHL Texas in 2018-19, but if he takes another step forward in his development he's on the cusp of securing a regular shift on a bottom pairing with the Stars.
