Biega was traded to Nashville from Toronto on Monday for future considerations, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
Biega has appeared in just two games for the Leafs this season, so fantasy players shouldn't be expecting him to see significant opportunities with Nashville either. Still, the 33-year-old Biega has 243 games of NHL experience (four goals, 38 assists).

Biega didn't make much of an impact on the scoresheet with a mere three assists in 49 games last season. The 32-year-old defenseman was primarily a gritty shutdown player, logging 115 hits and only a minus-9 rating on an awful Red Wings defense. The team liked him enough to extend his contract for another year. Biega will likely continue to see work on the second or third pairing in a shutdown role in 2020-21. His 16-point burst from 2018-19 can be considered an aberration -- anything more than 10 points for the Quebec native would be a shock. Fantasy managers in deep formats that count hits may be able to justify rostering him, but he's a no-go in standard scoring leagues.
Biega, 31, finished the 2018-19 campaign with 16 points in 41 games. Despite having spent most of the season playing as an injury fill-in, the veteran defenseman logged a career-high 17:40 of ice time when called upon. Biega's value is limited to deeper formats, as he doesn't play enough to warrant consideration in traditional leagues. With that in mind, steer clear of him on draft night and instead plan on claiming Biega off the waiver wire in the event that injuries hit the Canucks blue line.
“Bulldog” is a Vancouver favourite because of how hard he plays, but the undersized defenseman and occasional winger doesn't bring much to the table other than a lot of tenaciousness. The Canucks have eight defensemen on one-way contracts and Biega is the cheapest and most expendable. He appeared in 44 games last year mostly as an injury fill-in, scoring nine points and averaging 15 minutes per game. It's hard to envision the 30-year-old has any untapped potential and will likely play a depth role again this season, making him a fantasy asset that's worth very little even in the deepest leagues.

Biega could benefit from the Red Wings recently trading away Patrik Nemeth and Jon Merrill, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Suddenly, the Wings are bereft of right-shot defensemen, meaning Biega could be in line for increased opportunities down the stretch. He was waived Sunday, albeit in an apparent procedural move following the trades.
