A hard-working forward who can play center or wing, Flynn was a fixture for the Sabres on their bottom-six. The former Maine Black Bear standout scored just six goals in 79 games for the Sabres, but performed well as one of the team’s more physical and consistent players. His games-played ranked second on the team last year. For the 2014-15 season, he will serve in a similar role as a checking line player.
Flynn’s impressive play with AHL Rochester last season earned him a mid-season call-up, and he took full advantage of the opportunity. He posted 11 points in 26 games and injected some much needed energy into the Sabres’ lineup. He signed a two-year deal in the offseason and will have an excellent opportunity to earn a full-time role with the big club.
Flynn signed with the Sabres after completing a successful college career at the University of Maine. He posted 48 points in 40 games during his senior year and then joined the Sabres' affiliate in Rochester for his first taste of pro hockey, registering one assist in five games. The skilled playmaker will likely spend the entire season in Rochester, trying to find his way in an organization that is suddenly deep with prospects down the middle.
