McMillan re-signed with Arizona as a restricted free agent after playing 22 games with the Coyotes in 2013-14. He had just six points in his stint with the big club, but was more successful at AHL Portland where he had 27 points in 46 games. The 24-year-old winger will compete for a roster spot as an energy guy when camp opens.
He's fast, he's gritty and he's supremely versatile -- he can even help on the blue line if his coach needs him to do that. He's a coach's dream -- he'll sacrifice everything on every shift and jump before his coach asks. Offense isn't his specialty, but he does have a quick release and will surprise opponents who underestimate him. His overall ceiling is limited, but he could become a consistent 35-40 point guy once he earns a full-time gig with the Quackers. We're just not sure if this is his year.
McMillan is fresh off a 60-game tour with the Ducks that saw him record 11 goals and 10 assists. He saw time at all three forward positions last year and is looking to be a permanent fixture in Anaheim this season. His appearing in six playoff games this past campaign could prove beneficial as he looks to break out in his sophomore campaign. However, he projects as a solid NHLer more valuable to his team than a fantasy squad.
