Rakhshani has played the last two seasons in Sweden where he has been somewhat productive with 27 goals and 50 assists in 107 games. Still, there doesn't seem to be any room on the Islanders for him right now and he will more than likely remain in Sweden for at least one more season.

In what has to be a bit disappointing for the Islanders, Rakhshani signed to play in Sweden this season. Injuries have never allowed the Islanders to see what the winger could do in the NHL. The Isles do still own his rights should he decide to return to the NHL. Rakhshani produced to the tune of 49 points in 49 AHL games last season, but he did not register a point in five games with the big club.
Rakhshani had a solid season last year for Bridgeport of the AHL with 24 goals and 62 points. He is a fast and agile skater who sees the ice extremely well. He profiles as a second- or third-line player. Rakhshani could make the team to start the season, bit if he is sent back down to the AHL, he will be one of the first players called up when injuries hit.
Rakhshani played five games for Bridgeport of the AHL last season after completing his collegiate career at the University of Denver. He only tallied two assists in those games and is not projected to be a goal scorer at the NHL level either.
