Werek agreed to terms on a one-year deal with HC Ocelari Trinec of the Czech league on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
After being drafted by the Rangers with the 47th overall pick of the 2009 NHL Draft, Werek spent parts of seven seasons in the AHL, but was never able to earn a call-up. Now, the Ontario native will make his first foray overseas, which likely signifies the end of his prospects of making an NHL roster.

Werek delivered 19 points and 53 PIMs in 67 games for the Portland Pirates (AHL) last season and barring an explosive training camp, he'll likely be back in the AHL for much of 2012-13.
Werek was traded to the Coyotes following the 2010-11 season in exchange for Oscar Lindberg. Werek, who scored at over a point-per-game pace (52 points, 47 games) in the OHL, could find himself on the Yotes' AHL affiliate roster in 2011-12.
Werek, a 6-foot-1 center, was the Rangers’ second-round selection in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He’s a tough, physical player who’s aggressive on the forecheck. In his first year at Kingston of the Ontario Hockey League, Werek finished fifth in rookie scoring (32-32-64) in 66 games. He was reassigned by the Rangers to Kingston of the OHL ahead of the 2010-11 season.
