Viktor Tikhonov

Tikhonov hasn't had much NHL relevance since he played 61 games for the Coyotes in 2008-09, though the winger tallied just 16 points over that span. The former first-round pick has fared a bit better in the AHL, notching 10 goals and 23 assists with a minus-13 rating in 60 games last season. At this point in his career, Tikhonov remains a depth player.

In 2009-10, Tikhonov went to the KHL to find the same form that brought him to the Coyotes in 2008. While with Severstal, in 25 games played he scored 14 goals with one assist and had a plus-11 rating. Tikhonov could be one of those dark horses in 2010-11 for the Coyotes.

Tikhonov is one of the highest-rated prospects within the Coyotes organization. He made his debut with the Coyotes last season, and notched 16 points (8 G, 8 A) in 61 games. The Coyotes have brought in a couple of forwards over the summer, which could put Tikhonov's spot with the big club in jeopardy. If competition does bring results, than Tikhonov could thrive off the battle for a job. Regardless, no matter where Tikhonov ends up, whether it's Phoenix or Las Vegas of the AHL, he's still young and after the moves Phoenix has made, there is no longer a need to rush a guy like Tikhonov along.

The Russian product has hockey in his genes passed down from his grandfather, the legendary Soviet national coach who shares his name. His father Vasily spent three years as an assistant coach to the San Jose Sharks and sacrificed his career to help his son come to the NHL. He is a big kid at 6-2, and has the skills right now to contribute to the Coyotes. He competes hard and it will be difficult for the opposition to take the puck away from him. He will fit right in to the Coyotes' system and has an excellent chance to make the team. Even though many are excited about his game, fantasy owners should wait awhile in order to evaluate his progress.
