Leach had two points in 21 games with Albany (AHL) last season and likely will only see NHL ice the event of an injury to New Jersey's defensive corps this year.
Leach appeared in seven games for New Jersey last year, failing to register a single point. He was acquired from San Jose during the season and figures to spend the new campaign in the AHL as the result of New Jersey's crowded blue line.
Leach has been in the league four years, but he's already played for five different squads. He set a career high in points last season, but don't get too excited - he only had one goal and one assist. San Jose signed him to a one-year contract this past offseason, but he won't make any type of impact when the puck hits his stick.
