Pinizzotto is destined to bounce back and forth once again between the AHL and NHL. At the ripe old age of 30, he is certainly well past his peak and won't be a fantasy force of any type.
Prior to a preseason shoulder injury, Pinizzotto was expected to earn a third or fourth-line role with the Canucks in 2011-12. Instead, he spent the entire season on the shelf recovering from a dislocated shoulder. The Canucks saw enough in Pinizzotto last training camp to bring him back for another season and he’ll compete for a similar grinder role once again this year.
Pinizzotto signed a two-way contract with the Canucks this summer. The 27-year-old winger totaled 42 points while racking up 178 penalty minutes for Hershey of the AHL during the 2010-11 season. He'll get a chance to stick with the Canucks as a fourth-line goon.
The 26 year old winger has played the last few years in the ECHL and AHL and has yet to make the jump to show any of the coaches he is NHL ready. It does not look like his chances are getting any better as his production has not been anything exciting. Doubt you will see him in a Caps sweater anytime.
Pinizzotto spent part of last season in the ECHL and the other part in AHL Hershey. In the 45 games he played in Hershey he tallied 11 points (4G, 7A). The 25-year old winger’s game combines great offensive ability and some grit. He can set-up and finish plays. Where Pinizzotto is particularly dangerous is around the net. He should be back in Hershey refining his skills this season.
Pinizzotto is not a top prospect and will spend 2007-08 in the minors.
