Corrente re-signed with New Jersey this past offseason, inking a one-year, two-way contract. The physical defender has seen several NHL stints the past few years, playing 30 games for the Devils prior to spending all of the 2011-12 season in the AHL. Corrente is a talented prospect, but with the drafting of Adam Larsson and expected emergence of Alexander Urbom, Corrente could be hard-pressed to see NHL minutes with the Devils after this season.
Injuries limited Corrente to 22 games last season, and he managed a mere six assists with 44 penalty minutes. The Devils still consider him one of the brightest defensive prospects in the system, but he likely won't contribute much on the offensive side of the puck. Still, he's only 23 years old and will have plenty of chances to distinguish himself and earn more playing time in the near future.
Corrente saw some spot minutes with New Jersey last year due to injuries on the regular roster and showed some of his physicality. He's a talented young player that can be a good stay-at-home blue liner but his offensive potential remains to be seen. He will start 2010 in the AHL.
Corrente will be given a chance to make the Devils' roster out of training camp, but the team is set on defense save for the last two spots. The Devils are very high on Corrente and he could see some action with the big club this season if the Devils get nicked up on the blueline.
Corrente turned some heads during a rookie camp in July, but he still could be a year or two away from breaking into the NHL. He will be given a shot to make the team during training camp. The Devils are high on this kid, but even if he does make the roster, he won't have much of an impact.

Only 18, Corrente was the New Jersey's first round pick and will spend this season with Saginaw in the OHL.
Corrente is a mobile, puck-moving defenseman who is not afraid to drop the gloves. He scored six goals and 30 points with 172 PIM for Saginaw of the OHL. He's a first-round stretch but we're taking notice -- the Devils are notoriously good drafters so we think this kid might be something.
