Parros announced his retirement from professional hockey Friday, Elliott Teaford of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
ANALYSIS
The 34-year-old spent nine seasons as an enforcer for the Kings, Avalanche, Ducks, Panthers and Canadiens, but it's his tenure with Anaheim for which he'll be best remembered. Parros appeared in 22 games last season with Montreal, with the limited action resulting from a long-term concussion that he sustained during a fight with the Leafs' Colton Orr in the opener. With fewer teams these days rostering enforcer-types like Parros, the winger didn't notice much interest in the offseason and decided to call it a career.

Parros comes to Montreal via a trade from Florida, for whom he had two points and 57 minutes in penalties in 39 games. He's an enforcer that should help the Canadiens against certain opponents. Getting more physical is something the Canadiens need to do, a point made more clear in their playoff loss to Ottawa. Parros may not suit up every game, but he should lead Montreal in major penalties and PIM.
Parros signed with the Panthers after spending the previous six seasons with the Anaheim. The enforcer brings plenty of toughness to the Panthers, too bad it does not also offer much offensive appeal. The pugilist has averaged four points and 130 penalty minutes in each of the past three seasons, making him a safe selection in leagues that reward penalty minutes, either as late-round pick or streaming option for those in daily leagues seeking sin bin minutes.
Parros is a 31-year-old veteran entering his seventh season in the league. He was up to his usual enforcing ways last season, having warmed the penalty box for 171 penalty minutes in 78 games. Parros also accrued 97 hits and 26 blocked shots, and is expected to keep policing the ice in 2011-12.
Parros, the Ducks' primary enforcer, dropped the gloves at least 20 times for a third straight season in 2009-10, and racked up 136 PIMs. However, he only appeared in 57 games because of a few injuries, notably a right hand laceration that caused him to miss 10 games. Parros is a player more noted for his pugilism than for the point production, and expect more of the same in 2010-11.
Parros fantasy league value is in his fists. He's not terrible offensively scoring five goals in 74 games in 2008-09, but if your drafting him, you're looking for penalty minutes.
Parros won't land on most fantasy radars and you will likely see his gloves off and fists flying in anger a lot more frequently than you will see them raised in celebration. Last season, Parros managed only five points, but if your league scoring system rewards penalty minutes, he's a nice specialist after he led the Ducks with 183 of them last season.
The light scoring touch that he showed in the 2004-05 season playing for Manchester of the AHL, where he posted 22 points (14 goals and eight assists) has yet to show in the NHL. He posted one point, a goal, in 34 games last season. Don’t expect to much out of him beyond his enforcer role.
The Kings resident enforcer will give Sean Avery a run for his money in the penalty minutes department.
Has good size and a nasty streak, but don't look for him to add much point wise. May be called up during the season if the Kings want to add some grit and toughness to their team.
