Moore scored 20-plus goals in the AHL for the second straight season in 2008-09. His overall point production declined though as he went from 66 points in 2007-08 to 39 last year. He was signed to a two-way contract by the Islanders, but will reside primarily in Bridgeport and get called up only when injuries hit the team hard.
Moore was called up multiple times last season, but he only appeared in six games for the Rangers. At 24, Moore is still young enough to be considered a prospect and has shown significant growth in the AHL the past two seasons. He scored a career-high 66 points (26 goals, 40 assists) for Hartford of the AHL in the 2007-08 season.
In 2006-07, the hard-working Moore appeared in 79 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL), registering eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points, along with 41 penalty minutes. He'll get his chance to shine in training camp, but will likely start the season in the AHL.
Moore skated in 42 games with the University of Maine Black Bears this season, registering 28 goals and 17 assists for 45 points, along with 47 penalty minutes.
Playing in with the University of Maine Black Bears of Hockey East (H.E.), Moore played 36 games in 2004-05 and registered 13 goals and eight assists for 21 points, along with 14 penalty minutes. He’ll likely return to the Black Bears in ’05-06 and won’t be a factor in any draft format.
