Fraser announced his retirement from professional hockey Wednesday, Jon Rosen of LA Kings Insider reports.
ANALYSIS
Fraser signed a contract with the Nurnberg Ice Tigers of the German Ice Hockey League in June, but decided to retire from professional hockey mid-season due to "personal reasons." The 30-year-old three-time Stanley Cup Champion racked up 58 points (20 goals, 38 assists) in 359 career NHL games.

Fraser has 58 points in 358 games and three Stanley Cups to show for it. Some guys have all the luck. He's currently looking for his next gig as a free agent.
Fraser split time between a checking role with the Kings and a nice view from the press box with just seven points in 34 games. He'll fill a similar role with the Kings again this season.
Fraser filled a gritty, fourth line role for the Kings and while it didn't net much on the scoresheet (2 G, 6 A in 67 games) it did net him a two-year contract with the Kings this offseason. He'll be back in a fourth line role again.
Fraser came over to the Kings in an offseason trade that sent Ryan Smyth and his haircut back to Edmonton. The Kings discovered an ankle injury after the trade that will sideline Fraser to start the season. He doesn't score enough or drop the gloves with regularity to be of much use to fantasy squads though he could be a real nuisance for opposing teams if paired with Kyle Clifford in an agitator role.
Fraser was acquired by the Oilers during the 2010 NHL draft. He only has 13 goals during his NHL career and seems unlikely to light the lamp more than that with the Oilers. His value to Edmonton comes as an agitator, someone who can take the opposing team off his game. With Fraser, think along the lines of a poor man's Sean Avery.
Fraser played in 75 games with Rockford last year tallying 17 goals, 24 assists, a +16 plus/minus, and 165 penalty minutes. What he lacks in natural skill is made up for in heart. Fraser is expected to spend 2008-09 with Rockford, but he's the kind of player that could claim the sleeper title. Watch him closely if Chicago decides they need more hustle and heart on the team.
Fraser starts with Rockford of the AHL. He is still only 22-years-old, but the Blackhawks have several forward prospects so he is battling a crowded field.
One of the top 20 Blackhawks prospects who is a hustler, but who is projected as a role player. His toughness showed in 2005-06 at Norfolk where he had 165 penalty minutes in 75 regular season games. Had a dozen goals and 13 assists last season and will probably continue to develop at Norfolk this season.
