Fehr spent time with the Maple Leafs and Sharks last season, but he only appeared in 18 total NHL contests with those two clubs, notching just three goals and four points. The 2003 first-round pick spent most of his time in the minors in 2017-18, racking up 17 goals and 28 points in 34 contests. The 32-year-old winger secured a one-year, one-way contract with the Wild this offseason, which suggests he'll likely remain with the big club for most of the upcoming campaign. However, Fehr's lack of offensive upside coupled with the limited ice time he'll likely receive in Minnesota will keep him safely off the fantasy radar in all formats in 2018-19.
Fehr played in only 55 games due to injury in 2015-16, collecting eight goals and 14 points. After serving as a winger in the early season, he centered a line which included Tom Kuhnhackl and Bryan Rust. The unit helped to shut down opponents but focused little on offense. In fact, Fehr totaled as many short-handed goals (4) as he did even-strength goals (4). The 12th-year NHL veteran has never averaged a half point-per-game but scored 13 goals and 19 goals in 2013-14 and 2014-15, respectively. Despite a 6-foot-4 frame, Fehr isn't particularly physical -- he compiled 60 hits and 45 blocked shots last season. He's expected to serve in a penalty-killing role once again but figures to offer inconsistent fantasy value.
Of the many eye-raising changes that former coach Adam Oates made, moving Fehr to center looks like to have paid off. With a log jam at right wing, the 6-foot-4, 212-pound winger has the size to be an imposing center, and did not look out of place alongside Jason Chimera and Joel Ward. Perhaps it had more to do with Chimera and Ward’s amazing chemistry with one another, but there were many games last season where Fehr’s line was the most consistent. With youngsters chasing him for bottom-six ice time, Fehr will need to continue to earn quality minutes to have much of an impact on the score sheet, but his versatility has made him an indispensable role player for the Caps.
Fehr came back to the Caps in 2012-2013 after spending the 2011-2012 season in Winnipeg. He played in just 35 games as a Jet, scoring two goals. Fehr had more success with the Caps last season, playing in 41 games and scoring nine goals on the year. Fehr has scored over 20 goals just once on the last five seasons, and hasn’t broken 20 assists during that span. Fehr is a defensive forward and should not be relied on for many fantasy stats this season.
Fehr is currently an unrestricted free agent, and is not likely to make any sort of fantasy impact in 2012-2013. Should he latch on with an NHL club, it will be to serve as a defensive forward. He's scored 12 goals over 87 games between Washington and Winnipeg the last two seasons.
Fehr managed 10 goals and 10 assists with the Capitals last year. He is a hard-working player that is not afraid of a good battle along the boards, which makes him a good checker. In terms of fantasy statistics though, Fehr is not going to produce regularly enough to warrant a starting role on your team. He's also coming off surgery to repair a torn labrum Saturday and could miss the start of the 2011-12 season.
The Caps re-signed Fehr in July 2010 to a two-year, $4.4 million contract. Perhaps team brass was sold on him after he cranked out 21 goals, 18 assists and a plus-18 rating in the 2009-10 season, despite averaging just 12 minutes of ice time per game. Expect Fehr’s minutes (and fantasy value) to jump significantly since the Caps apparently like the work that he’s doing.

Fehr is a terrific sniper, and possesses a strong, accurate wrist shot. He played in 61 games, recording 25 (12G, 13A) points and a plus-8 rating. Coming off two surgeries, he will hopefully be ready for the opener, but that is still unclear. Look for Fehr to keep up his production this year, if healthy.

He missed a good amount of time last season due to a bad back, which is never a good injury for a youngster, but if he can stay healthy, he could compete for meaningful minutes as the right winger on one of the Caps' scoring lines.
Last season, the now-21-year-old winger and 2003 first round pick helped lead the AHL Hershey Bears to the Calder Cup in his first taste of professional hockey, finishing second on the team in goals with 25. He did spend some time with the Caps, but scored no points while having only a bit role in parts of 11 games. All indications point to Fehr teaming up with Alexander Ovechkin and Christian Backstrom on the Caps' first line in the future, but for now the sturdy 6-foot-3, 210-lb winger will likely spend most of the 2006-07 season at Hershey refining his game with a mid-season call-up likely.
While much has been made of the Capitals' 2004 first round draft pick -- Russian super-phenom Alexander Ovechkin -- Fehr, the team's 2003 first-rounder, also has potential for stardom. The summer after he was drafted, Fehr had 50 goals and 84 points as an 18-year-old in the highly competitive Western Hockey League. He followed that up last season with a 59-goal, 111-point performance to lead the WHL in points, and was named its player of the year. The 6-foot-4, 200-lb. winger finds himself in the perfect situation -- a rebuilding franchise with a lack of quality right wingers. If he acquits himself well during training camp, Fehr could make the opening day roster on a scoring line, but a more likely scenario is that he receives a half or full season in the AHL before being called up to the NHL for good. Fehr is a must-own in keeper leagues.
