Like an alarmingly high number of Dallas blue liners, Skrastins neither scores nor fights. He'll block a ton of shots, but that's digging pretty deep to look for value.
Skrastins was one of very few offseason additions to Dallas, and he'll be brought in to do exactly what he's always done: block shots and keep pucks out of his own net.
Skrastins should spend the season on the second or third pairing of the Cats' revamped blue line. With just five points last season, he shouldn't warrant fantasy consideration.
Skrastins will be part of Colorado's second defensive pairing. He has a limited offensive game.
Skrastins appeared in all 82 games for Colorado last season and has now played in 433 straight games, the longest active streak in the NHL. He recorded three goals and 11 assists. His 65 penalty minutes were the fourth-most on Colorado's squad. This season, the Avalanche are expecting Skrastins to help fill the void left by Rob Blake's departure.
Skrastins isn`t well known but he`s a legitimate top-4 defenseman who played as well as anyone on the Colorado blue line in 2003-04. Fantasywise, he lacks scoring prowess and won't help your team.
