2006
Johnson picked up his first win in 2008, but he did little to back it up in 2009. Actually, he did nothing. He has his card for 2010 already, so finishing in the top-125 last season didn't mean much. Johnson will likely be fighting for his card at the end this year.
Johnson's stats were great in 2005. He ranked 13th overall in all-round ranking. What did that get him? About $689K. In 2006 Johnson had 10 top-25s and a runner-up finish at the Bank of America Colonial on his way to more than $1.5 million in earnings. One would think his all-round ranking would be better or at least similar to his 2005 number, right? Wrong. Last year he came in at 111th. Just a quick note not to put too much stock into the all-round ranking: sometimes it matters, sometimes it doesn't. It is a decent indicator of players that might break out if they show consistently strong numbers, such as Geoff Ogilvy, who was consistently in the top 10 before finally breaking through last year. As for Johnson in 2007, his production dropped after his near win at the Colonial last year, but his 10 top-25s show that he's close to having a big year.
Johnson came over from Europe and had a nice sophomore season (finishing in the top 125 in earnings), but struggled in the second half of last season (missing 6 of 7 cuts).
