Rebounds at Royal Troon
July 17, 2016
Jimenez closed out the week with an even-par 71 at the Open Championship to finish in a tie for 18th.
ANALYSIS
After missing four consecutive cuts on the Euro Tour, Jimenez returned to form at Royal Troon this week. He posted remarkably consistent rounds of 71-72-70-71, and did a tremendous job of staying out of trouble off the tee, hitting 70% of fairways. The Spaniard currently sits in 87th in the Race to Dubai and will look to keep form heading into the heart of the season.

Jimenez just refuses to go down quietly. Just when you think he's too old to compete, he comes out and kicks some tail. Jimenez isn't kicking as much tail as he used to, but every now and then he makes a run at a big event. He did just that on two occasions last year and he'll likely show up a couple times again this year.
Jimenez has to slow down at some point, right? Sure, he's not the player he was 10 years ago, but man, every time you look up, there he is with that ponytail. Many have made the mistake of discounting Jimenez too many times. Considering this is a Ryder Cup year, you can bet that we'll see the best of what Jimenez has left.
Jimenez isn't getting any younger, but he still has plenty of game and, therefore, should remain a factor during the big events this season. He finished ninth on the European Tour's money list and looks as good as ever at age 47 next season. While a top-three finish at a major or WGC event is unlikely, the fact that he'll be entered in those events means he'll have plenty of chances to top his 2010 PGA Tour earnings.
Jimenez's better days seem to be behind him. Although he played well during certain WGC events last season, his play at the majors left a lot to be desired. Jimenez managed only one top-25 at the majors last season. Jimenez moved from 22nd to 49th in the final 2009 Official World Golf Rankings.
