Duke has withdrawn his name from the field at the Barbasol Championship, Rob Bolton of PGATour.com reports.
ANALYSIS
He had gotten into the field this week after Chris Stroud withdrew, but Duke also has decided to not tee it up. The 50-year-old has only made one other start on the PGA Tour this season, choosing to play most of his golf on the Champions Tour.

Duke has made a career out of picking his spots on the PGA Tour. In eight years on the PGA Tour, Duke has amassed over $10 million in earnings, but has only three top-3 finishes in that time. One of those top-3's was a win, which always helps, but it shows just how unpredictable he can be. With that in mind, Duke is not a good salary cap option this year because there's no way to know if he's going to pull-out a top-3 somewhere or not. In draft leagues, he'll likely go in the 10th round or later.
Duke is fully exempt this season thanks to his win at the 2013 Travelers Championship, so he's automatically worth a look in salary cap leagues. Throw in that he's finished above the $1 million mark in four of his past six full seasons and there's even more reason to consider him. He has had a couple clunkers in the past six seasons though, so he's not a "must-have", but again, at least take a look.
Duke not only saved his season, but possibly his career with a win at the Travelers Championship last June. He is getting up there in age though, so an uptick in earnings is unlikely in 2014. Duke has never been the most consistent player and that spells trouble as he gets older. Duke is not a consideration in a salary cap format and should go in the 70-80 range in draft formats.
Duke made the most of his return to the PGA TOUR last season by securing his card fairy early. Duke posted his fourth top-10 by early June, and from there, well, he coasted a bit. At least that's how it appears. Duke didn't accomplish much in the second half of the season, which is a little worrisome entering this season. Duke also turns 44 this year, so his numbers on the PGA TOUR might be limited. He will probably do enough to secure his card this season, but beyond that, don't expect too much. In draft leagues, he should go in the seventh round.
Duke spent the majority of the last five years as a PGA TOUR member, but since losing his card he's struggled to regain his privileges. Unless Duke makes a splash with a sponsor's exemption this season, he's likely to fall right about where he did last season.
Duke struggled through the first six months of 2008, but on June 1st, it all turned around. From that point through the end of the year he earned nearly $1.9 million.
Ken Duke's final earnings number looks impressive upon first glance, but a closer looks reveals that he earned over 60 percent of that money during a four-week stretch in early Spring. Duke was a rookie on the Tour last year, though at first glance you wouldn't guess it. Duke is in his late 30s and has spent many years playing professional golf. The odd thing is, he only started playing a full schedule in 2003. Since then he's spent a year on the PGA tour, a couple years on the Nationwide tour, and another year back on the PGA Tour. Make no mistake, this is where he belongs, but I don't see a high upside for Duke in 2008.
