David Hearn

Hearn's 2018-19 earnings of just $397,677 are by far his lowest total since becoming a regular on the PGA Tour in 2011, and the Canadian subsequently slipped to 174th in the FedEx Cup standings as a result of his poor play. Hearn tied for fourth at the Korn Ferry Tour Finals to secure his card for another season, but his lack of power off the tee is catching up to him against better competition. Hearn ranked just 142nd in SG: Off-the-Tee despite finishing the season 13th in driving accuracy.

After six-straight years of retaining his card, Hearn has slipped outside the top 125 in FedEx Cup points the last two seasons. He managed 21 events last season but made only 11 cuts with a pair of top-10s (one of them in the 2-man Zurich Classic). Considering his past of solid but underwhelming play, he's due for a slight bounce back but will need a full slate of events to really have a shot at cracking $1M in earnings for the sixth time in his career.

The 38-year-old Canadian has proven himself solid though less-than-flashy, with no career wins and just thrice coming close to a breakthrough. If Hearn can afford himself enough events to prove himself, expect a bounceback and a return to full exemption on the PGA Tour.

Six years on the PGA Tour for Hearn and six cards retained. There's not much to say beyond that. Hearn is steady, but not remarkable. His best season was 2015 when he earned just over $1.8 million. His cuts-made percentage has remained steady around 66% for most of his career. He's definitely not the right person for a salary cap position, but he provides stability on a drafted team. In draft leagues he should go somewhere near the eighth or ninth round.

Hearn, known as the "other Canadian" for much of the season, was a bit of a disappointment last season. Living in the shadow of fellow Canadian Graham DeLaet, Hearn was carving out a nice little slice of the PGA Tour kitty heading into this season, but for some reason the momentum came to a halt this year. With that said, he's still on the way up and at this price, he's definitely worth a look in salary cap leagues this year.

A very nice 2013 season that included seven top-25s, two top-10s and a runner-up finish. Hearn's performance was a nice surprise and not many had him pegged for a solid season. The good news is, he finished the 2013 season with a lot of momentum, the bad news is, he has little track record to fall back on, which makes him a risky proposition in salary cap leagues. In draft leagues he should go in the 60-70 range.

With only two top-10s on his resume last season, it's quite amazing that David Hearn was able to make more than $1 million. Hearn put together a workman-like effort last season, earning no more than $160K in any week, yet still managing to secure his card for 2013. Hearn has been at this for a while now, and he's never had a break-through year, so his upside appears limited. He's not a good option in salary cap leagues this year and he should go in the 10th round or later in draft leagues.

Hearn had a good start, followed by a sluggish middle part of the season and a strong finish in the fall season. Hearn fared much better in his second-go-round on the PGA TOUR, earning three top-10s last season, something which he failed to do even once in his rookie season of 2005. Though he showed improvement last year, he still struggled in the middle of the season when up against the best that the PGA Tour had to offer, which means he'll likely come in around the same number as last season.

Hearn has spent a lot of time on the Nationwide Tour over the past decade, but until recently, he did not have a lot of success. In fact, his best result in the last five years on the Nationwide Tour was a runner-up finish, which is the primary reason he finished in the top-25 last season. Don't expect a whole lot from Hearn this season.
