2022 represented Cook’s fifth full season on the PGA Tour, and he has finished between 130th and 160th on the money list in each of those five seasons. His best finish this past year was a T13 at the RBC Canadian Open, and he made 52 percent of his total possible cuts. Cook is a nice player but doesn’t frequently crack the top-20 in stronger fields. For that reason, he is well off the fantasy radar in most formats and on most weeks.
The highlight of Cook's 2020-21 campaign came in Las Vegas when he tied for second at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, which marked his best finish since a maiden win at the 2017 RSM Classic. This wasn't enough to get him into the FedExCup Playoffs, however, so he was forced to tee it up at the Korn Ferry Tour Finals where he eventually tied for 11th at the KFT Championship. Cook did not strike the ball particularly well in 2020-21, though he ranked top-50 in SG: putting, driving accuracy and proximity from 100-125 yards.
After a stellar 2017-18 season, Cook was looking like one of the top up-and-coming players on Tour, but since he's been a player who's only made about half of his cuts and is rarely near the top of the leaderboards. When Cook was at his best he relied on a steady all-around game, but his iron play struggled mightily this past season. He'll need to find his old form if he wants to retain his PGA Tour card next season.
Cook had a disappointing sophomore season after his rookie campaign where he won and posted seven other top-25s against just five missed cuts in 29 starts. Thankfully that win in the 2017-18 season keeps him in good position to have enough starts to have a solid shot to get back to the playoffs. Cook is a good driver of the ball, but needs to improve the short game. Last year he was 192nd on tour in SG: Around-the-green. Cook is a decent choice for salary cap leagues.
Cook started his rookie season on the PGA Tour off in-style with a win at The RSM Classic in the fall and although he had only one other top-5 for the rest of the season, it was certainly a successful campaign. Cook got it done on and around the greens last season as he ranked 53rd on the PGA Tour in strokes-gained around the green and 39th in strokes-gained putting. His putting was no fluke, he's always been good with the blade, but up until last season, he was a heck of a ball-striker as well. Perhaps he didn't adjust to the new venues as well and unfamiliarity with the course lead to some issues off the tee and approaching the green. Whatever the case, it's something he should remedy this season and as long as he continues to putt well, he should produce at a higher level this season.
Cook originally busted onto the professional golf scene in 2015 when he made 6 of 7 cuts on the PGA Tour while notching a pair of top-10s in the process, but was unable to earn full status until finishing 15th in the Web.com's 2017 regular season money list. His most recent campaign was highlighted by a stretch that included results of T7-T2-T7 from the LECOM Health Challenge through the Pinnacle Bank Championship in July. Cook also ranked an impressive eighth in ball striking and 14th in total driving on the Web.com Tour.
