Taylor (undisclosed) worked out for the Lions on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Taylor missed the entirety of the 2021 season after reaching an injury settlement with the Texans in early September. It's unclear what the exact nature of the 27-year-old's injury was, but he appears ready to make his return to play after posting back-to-back seasons without a catch from 2019 to 2020.

Taylor did little for the Browns after being acquired prior to the start of the 2019 season. He played early when injuries impacted depth at wide receiver, but finished with just one target and was a healthy scratch for 13 of 16 games. The team's third wideout job is up for grabs, and he could be in the mix as a returner on special teams, but the 25-year-old's outlook for 2020 hasn't improved much. As the Vikings offensive coordinator in 2019, Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski used three wide-receiver formations a league-low 18 percent of the time, so Taylor, who is under contract for one more year, could have a limited role once again.
The Titans invested fairly heavily in Taylor, drafting him in the third round of the 2017 draft. That capital was based on Taylor's strong college production profile, including an average of 17.7 yards per catch. While still only 24, Taylor has yet to deliver similar production for the Titans. After displaying big-play ability in his rookie season on limited targets -- Taylor saw only 28 targets but made the most of them by averaging 14.4 yards per reception -- he saw his target volume increase in the 2018 season only to have his big-play ability largely disappear. While that can be blamed in part on the anemic passing game of the team and the inconsistent play of quarterbacks Marcus Mariota and Blaine Gabbert, the offseason called Taylor's role on the team into question. That question became moot when the Titans traded Taylor to the Browns. He's slotted in at fourth on Cleveland's wide receiver depth chart.
Selected 72nd overall in last year's draft, Taylor (5-foot-11, 203 pounds) struggled to establish himself as a key part of the Titans offense during his rookie year, ultimately logging less than 10 offensive snaps in seven of his last eight games (including playoffs). However, the Tennessee brass displayed confidence in the team's receiving depth by not adding any other marquee wideouts to the roster this offseason. With Rishard Matthews and Corey Davis atop the depth chart, touches could be volatile on a weekly basis for Taylor, but Eric Decker is no longer around and Taylor is a good bet to see more targets than the 28 he received in 2017. He's best used as a slot receiver, but the Western Kentucky product showed in college that it's a mistake to not try and manufacture touches for him on sweeps and bubble screens.
While everyone talks about No. 5 overall pick Corey Davis' gaudy stats at Western Michigan, Taylor's 98 catches for 1,730 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior at Western Kentucky were nothing to sneeze at. The speedy third-rounder's skill set probably translates best to the slot, where free-agent acquisition Eric Decker likely will spend most of his time this season. However, Decker is only playing on a one-year contract and Tennessee moved up 11 spots to grab Taylor, so the team likely expects the rookie to take on a big role no later than 2018.
