Ragland (shoulder) will not return Sunday against the Steelers, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
ANALYSIS
Ragland suffered the injury in the first half, and he was unable to return for the second. In his absence, Jermaine Carter and Tae Davis will both likely see extra opportunities in the Browns' regular-season finale.

Signed to a one-year deal in March, Ragland will compete for snaps at inside linebacker with Tae Crowder, Devante Downs and Lorenzo Carter, who is recovering from an Achilles tear. But Blake Martinez is the tackle machine in the Giants defense, limiting the upside of the other interior linebackers.
Considered a versatile linebacker that lacks top-end athleticism coming out of Alabama in 2016, Ragland has more or less lived up to that billing in the pros. However, between his time in Buffalo and Kansas City, the second-round pick has served under a number of defensive coordinators with different systems that didn't always play to Ragland's strengths. Now with Detroit and a coaching staff that values versatility, Ragland isn't necessarily a lock to make the roster, but he could earn a significant role on early downs while rotating with Christian Jones and Jalen Reeves-Maybin, which could lend itself to a respectable tackle total.
Ragland paired nicely with 2018 offseason acquisition Anthony Hitchens on the inside, recording 86 tackles (46 solo) and his first sack (albeit a half-sack) of his young career. With the Chiefs poised to switch to a 4-3 defense, Ragland may have the middle to himself next season, which will allow him to instill the thumper mentality he displayed at Alabama. For fantasy purposes, a rise in tackles and, subsequently, his fantasy value may be in store for the fourth-year linebacker.
Ragland hasn't gotten moving yet, but he is only three years removed from serving as one of the top players on a dominant Alabama defense, and it's easy to rationalize his disappointing presence since then as being caused by his rookie season knee injury and the arbitrary personnel shuffle resulting from a new Buffalo front office. Now in his second year with the Chiefs – and with longtime starter Derrick Johnson gone – it finally appears time to properly evaluate Ragland. You're betting on the pedigree plus opportunity here, but there's enough in those two variables to plunge ahead without a history of NFL production.
Ragland, who missed his rookie season with an ACL tear, was dealt to the Chiefs in late August, where the 2016 second-rounder will bolster his new team's linebacking corps.
Although Myles Jack somewhat understandably got the most hype of the rookie linebackers, it's Ragland who is the best bet to make an immediate IDP impact. He's a throwback thumper linebacker who fell to the second round due to low demand for big, in-traffic 'backers, but coach Rex Ryan has no qualms about using such players. If he had been drafted five years ago, Ragland likely would have been a first-round pick. Ragland will almost certainly start for Buffalo as a rookie, and there's a decent chance he could push for nickel snaps and a three-down role. UPDATE: Raglund will miss his entire rookie season due to a torn ACL.

Tries out with Las Vegas

Ragland worked out for the Raiders on Friday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
The 28-year-old was one of two veteran linebackers along with Alec Ogletree brought in by the Raiders on Friday. Ragland recorded 67 tackles and two passes defended over 17 games with the Giants in 2021 while playing under defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, who is now in the same role with Las Vegas. Therefore, the veteran's familiarity with Graham could give him a leg up for a potential depth role with Las Vegas heading into the regular season.
