Ronnie Rivers

25-Year-Old Running BackRB
Los Angeles Rams
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Undrafted out of Fresno State in 2023, Rivers has bounced on and off the practice squad with the Rams the last two years as a reliable depth option, albeit one with limited upside. While he can contribute on all three downs, Rivers lacks the size, speed or power to be a lead back in the NFL. Los Angeles recognizes his limits and deploys him effectively, but the team also understood that he might be overmatched as the No. 2 option behind Kyren Williams and added Boston Scott in free agency before using a third-round pick on Blake Corum. Reverts to special teams role
RBLos Angeles Rams
October 7, 2024
Rivers did not record a snap on offense and played 11 snaps on special teams during Sunday's 24-19 loss to the Packers.
ANALYSIS
For the first time this season, Rivers did not act as the backup to Kyren Williams, with Blake Corum filling the role instead. Whether this is a one-game test for the third-round rookie before the Rams go on bye in Week 6, or if Corum has officially jumped Rivers on the depth chart remains to be seen, but Corum notably produced very similar numbers to what Rivers had been producing with his touches (five rushes for 25 yards, one catch for eight yards). Regardless, the role of Williams hasn't changed, as he rushed 22 times for 102 yards and a touchdown, so neither Rivers nor Corum have much immediate value barring an injury to Williams.

More competition for touches
RBLos Angeles Rams
November 4, 2022
Sarah Barshop of ESPN.com reports that Cam Akers practiced fully Thursday, and Akers returning to game action could spell the end of Rivers' opportunities with the Rams.
ANALYSIS
Akers had been sitting out with the team searching for a trade partner, but no trade materialized, so the Rams plan to reintegrate the 2020 second-round pick. Rivers had been elevated from the practice squad for the previous game and used in the early-down role occupied by Akers earlier in the season, but with Akers back, the Rams could cut Rivers out of the game plan entirely and simply choose not to elevate him again.
