Rest-of-Season Projections
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Werner is coming off a career year, tallying 93 tackles while playing 16 regular-season games. The 25-year-old doesn't particularly jump off the page with game-changing plays, totaling one interception and two forced fumbles over three pro campaigns. The Saints added a solid veteran in Willie Gay this offseason, and top linebacker Demario Davis is back for his 13th season. However, Werner should be in line for a productive 2024, which would set him up for a solid payday at the end of his rookie contract. Read Past Outlooks
Ruled out for Week 18
Werner (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against Tampa Bay, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
ANALYSIS
Werner was in concussion protocol throughout the week and wasn't able to be cleared ahead of the Saints' season finale. He'll thus miss his fourth game of the campaign. Werner will finish 2024 with 92 tackles (54 solo) -- one shy of his career-best mark -- along with one pass defensed over 13 contests. He's signed with New Orleans through the end of the 2026 season.

2022
2021
Werner started last season on track for a breakout campaign with 71 tackles and three pass defenses through the first eight games of the season. However, the 2021 second-round pick went on to suffer a significant ankle injury Week 9, limiting him to play in just three of New Orleans' final eight games. Werner still put up a career-best season in 2022, despite making three fewer appearances than his rookie season. After fellow off-ball linebacker Kaden Elliss left in free agency this offseason, Werner should headline the Saints' relatively thin linebacking corps alongside four-time All-Pro middle linebacker Demario Davis.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Inks lucrative extension Thursday
Werner, who's excelled in the Saints' linebacker corps since being drafted in the second round in 2021, signed a three-year extension worth more than $25 million Thursday, Adam Schefter and Katherine Terrell of ESPN report.
ANALYSIS
The deal has $17.5 million in guaranteed money and rewards Werner, who was heading into the final year of his rookie contract, for an impressive first three NFL seasons. The Ohio State product has started 35 regular-season games in that span and recorded 235 total tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Werner is currently dealing with a shoulder injury that has cost him some training camp practices, but the issue is considered minor overall.
