Wilkerson had his suspension lifted by the commissioner Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Wilkerson hasn't played in the league since 2018, when he suffered a season-ending ankle injury with the Packers. Given his injury history and off-the-field issues, it's tough to determine whether the 30-year-old will garner much attention from teams, but given the need for players in 2020, nothing can be ruled out.

After spending the first seven years of his career with the Jets, Wilkerson joined the Packers during the offseason. He had a tumultuous final year in New York and totaled the fewest sacks since his rookie year of 2011, but he should be plenty motivated to turn things around with his new team as he pursues a long-term contract after signing just a one-year deal for 2018. The bulk of Wilkerson's issues last year were seemingly of the off-field variety, and he'll head into the regular season at 28 years old, so there is ample reason to believe he will bounce back and provide a healthy boost to the Packers' defensive line. Wilkerson has always been more productive in the tackle department than most of his D-Line counterparts, and he could really turn into a fantasy factor if he is able to boost his sack numbers at least near double figures.
Wilkerson experienced a down year in 2016, so it's understandable if some prefer his ascending teammate, Leonard Williams. But Wilkerson is still just 27, and he previously bounced back emphatically from his down years. He followed his five sack season with a 10.5-sack one, and his six-sack season with 12. It's unlikely he's physically declining in his prime years, so a return to dominance seems more likely than not. Aside from his double-digit sack capabilities, Wilkerson tends to hover around 60 tackles per year.
Wilkerson is a holdout threat that needs a double-check closer to your draft, but as long as he's suiting up for somebody he'll be a top-shelf IDP on the defensive line. Simultaneously a 315-pound anchor on the interior and a double-digit sack threat, Wilkerson is an All-Pro who will dominate even if it's not the Jets he's dominating for. Two of his last three years surpassed double-digit sacks, and he still posted six sacks in 13 games during the one year of the three in which he fell short of the mark. He's also surpassed 60 tackles in three of the last four years.
Turf toe cost Wilkerson three games last year, but he still posted more than 50 tackles for the third consecutive season, adding six sacks after 10.5 in 2013. In a full season, 70 tackles and double-digit sacks wouldn't surprise, as Wilkerson has not hit his ceiling yet. He spent the offseason lobbying for a contract extension, which as of press time he hadn't received, and the Jets drafted DE Leonard Williams sixth overall this year, but those issues shouldn't keep the 6-4, 315-pound Wilkerson from being one of the league's top D-Line IDPs again this season.
It looked like the Jets got themselves a steal when they drafted Wilkerson with the 30th overall pick in 2011, but few would have guessed he'd be quite as good as he is today. He won't turn 25 until October, but he's one of the best defenders in the league and probably the best player on the Jets' defense. His success has translated to IDP utility, too, as he has back-to-back seasons with more than 60 tackles, and he broke out for 10.5 sacks in 2013. That sack total might regress a bit, but there's no reason to think he won't make it to 60 tackles for the third consecutive year, and he's yet to miss a game in his three seasons. He's a good high-floor DL1 to pair with a lower-floor, big-play specialist DL2.
The 2011 first-round pick is arguably the top player on the Jets' defense given the offseason departures of Bart Scott and Darrelle Revis. He's an elite run-stopper and recorded 69 tackles and five sacks. If he can avoid injury, the 23-year-old Wilkerson could be poised for his Pro Bowl season.
Like Quinton Coples, Wilkerson is talented enough to push for IDP relevance despite playing in a three-man front. With the arrival of Coples, moreover, any worry Wilkerson might have had about seeing disproportionate attention from opposing blocking schemes is mostly relieved. In any case, he finished his 2010 rookie season with 49 tackles (35 solo), three sacks, one safety and a forced fumble. A naturally strong player with good athleticism for his size, Wilkerson should improve on his rookie numbers in 2012.
After the departure of Shaun Ellis in free agency, Wilkerson is slated to start right away and the Jets are expecting him to immediately contribute to their pass rush. He could be worth an IDP look depending on how training camp and the preseason works out
